Queenstown Central Town Centre
Queenstown Central is a large format retail and town center development. Its unique design provides both commercial and community gains. The project creates an attractive, high-performing retail environment, as well as a town center destination for people to gather together, socialise and foster a sense of community.
This 30,000m² GFA (Gross Floor Area) development is overlooked by the spectacular mountain range, The Remarkables. The design reflects the magnificent natural landscape and includes a mix of retail, accommodation, hospitality, office space, and car parking. It is ideally located near Queenstown’s ‘gateway’ – the airport.
The project comprises of seven blocks of buildings, with two large format retail sections and a mix of smaller specialty retail stores.
Ignite Architects came to us for a design on a fall arrest/height safety system that was fit for purpose to provide safe access to the complete roof areas on all of the buildings for general maintenance including plant maintenance, gutter cleaning & general roof inspections etc. The challenge on this project was the tricky roof contours along with fixing fall arrest systems on a range of roof profiles and roof build ups including architectural standing seam roof profiles.
On the main of the buildings we designed & installed the 3M RoofSafe™ system around the perimeter of the building roof. This provided a system where the user is always working in work restraint so can’t possibly fall off the building while attached to a fixed 2m lanyard. This also provides a very clear demarcation line for the user to not step over the line without being attached.
On the steeper architectural standing seam profile roofs, we designed & installed the 3M Uni8™ cable system along the ridgeline along with pendulum anchors.
Overall a very happy client that can provide fit for purpose access to all of the roof areas.
