Star Mountain Plaza
Ignite Architects, Auckland
Papua New Guinea’s first integrated, mixed-use development, Star Mountain Plaza is a landmark project promoting vibrancy and encouraging links to the wider community.
PBI was asked to provide a solution which would allow access to the building exterior for maintenance, glass replacement and cleaning the glazing and external decorative facade. This included installing a product capable of lifting glazing panels and ensuring protection from rope damage whilst abseiling.
By engaging with the Architect at the early design stage, we were able to influence/change the design of the roof so that better access would be provided to the south elevation.
As the job was overseas in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, PBI had to ensure the installed systems and processes were appropriate for heat exposure. We also supplied a complete cleaning kit including full abseil harnesses, helmets, ropes, and PPE and provided abseil training for their in-house exterior cleaning team as their resources were limited.
Altrac Rail, UniRail, Uni8 and Roofsafe, anchors abseil and Monkeytoe walkway/stairs/ladders
Actsafe ACX Power Ascender (battery powered ascent/descent devices).
Full abseil harness, helmet, ropes, PPE
Also supplied a full cleaning and maintenance kit of equipment (waterfed pole brushes, de-ionizer filters, chemicals, squeegees)
